Planning and Organising Jobs

Planning and Organising Jobs

Jobs is where your plan really starts

Jobs are the core of Plan Heaven. It’s where your plan really starts. Each job you create flows into the job’s table and the sum of the cost of all jobs flows on down into the funding table.

So without jobs you don’t have a plan.

Adding and editing jobs

We hope that now you appreciate that you start with setting up jobs first. We also hope that once you take a look at the jobs section you will find that the process of adding, editing and deleting jobs is intuitive.

Entering data

When you enter data, just use whole numbers and don’t use a $ sign, commas or cents.

Also the numbering of each job is manual.  So if  you want to change the position of a job in the table you will need to go back and change the job numbers accordingly.

Put in as much information as you need.  Some jobs require no explanation but with others you might want to write a lot such as where you got the dollar value from or the quantity of materials you have predicted will be required.  The idea is that when the time comes and someone wants to know why or how you came up with that job they don't have to ask.

We use today's currency values

All currency values in Plan Heaven are at today's values and we don't make any provision for inflation.  We think this just make sense but if you want to know more we have written more about currency and inflation here.

The jobs cost table

This probably doesn’t need any explanation. It’s just a list of the jobs so we can get annual totals to transfer to the funding table. The job’s cost table can’t be edited. You have to go back and edit the job.

Get advice from your contractors

If you are unsure about what jobs might need to be done and/or how much they might cost, think about asking contractors for their advice.

The most obvious ones are the contractors who already service some elements in your development as they will be pleased to give you advice on what components will need money spent on them during the period covered by your plan.

But if there are some areas that are not routinely serviced, for example if you don't know much about your roof, try talking to local roofing companies.

I'm sure you will be getting the idea.  Plan Heaven is just a tool to manage your plan but now that you have it you can spend your time on working out what needs to be done rather than how you're going to present it.

And that's the way it should be.
